Contemporary surrealism is a current revival of surrealist imagery built from personal and private symbolism rather than the shared unconscious the original movement drew on. Named in 2025 and 2026 art forecasts, it appears in the work of painters such as Zhou Song and Mulgil Kim, who construct inner worlds from individual memory and psychological narrative.
