Generative art

Generative art is art produced wholly or partly by an autonomous system, such as an algorithm or ruleset, that the artist defines and then allows to run. Its origins reach back to 1960s pioneers such as Vera Molnar, Georg Nees, and Frieder Nake. Since 2020, platforms like Art Blocks have brought long-form generative work on blockchain to a wider market.
