Hammer price
The hammer price is the amount at which the auctioneer's hammer falls, marking the winning bid. It does not include the buyer's premium, taxes, or other fees, so the total a buyer pays is always higher. Published sale results often quote the price with premium, which is why a reported figure can exceed the hammer price by roughly a quarter.
