Tokenization

Tokenization is the process of recording ownership of an asset as a token on a blockchain, so it can be traded and verified without a central registry. For art it underlies NFTs, where a token points to or contains a work and logs its ownership history. The approach reached a wider market during the 2021 NFT boom.
